Scotties softball look to improve season start with a double

Vs. Maysville (3/26)
On a Thursday trip to Maysville, the
Lady Panthers stepped up in the first
inning to grab an 8 – 0 lead. Tri-Val-
ley scored three runs in the top of the
second inning, with Moreland crossing
the plate on a wild pitch and Ally Pe-
terson scoring on a single by Reffitt,
and trailed 11 – 6 after three innings.
In the top of the fourth inning, the
Scotties rallied for 12 runs, including a
homer by Tyson and a triple by Gerran
Matthews to lead 18 – 11, backed by
a shutout in the bottom of the inning
and 11 runs in the top of the fifth to
lead and eventually win 29 – 13.
After losing two games to John Glenn
early in the week, the Scotties have a
2 – 4 overall record and are looking to
improve that as they face West M on
Thursday, and host Granville at home
on Saturday for a double header start-
ing at 12 PM.
Vs. Dover (3/25)
Tri-Valley traveled to Dover on
Wednesday to face the Tornadoes on
their home field. Dover jumped out to
a one-run lead at the end of the first
inning, and followed it with a run in the
bottom of each of the next two innings
to lead 3 – 0. The Scotties couldn’t get
a run in the next two innings, and with
the Tornadoes adding two runs in the
fourth and six runs in the bottom of the
fifth, the game ended with an 11 – 0
loss for Tri-Valley.
Vs. New Philadelphia
Doubleheader (3/21)
The Scotties hosted the Lady Quak-
ers on Saturday in Kenny Wolford Park
for a doubleheader. Game one started
with New Philadelphia getting a one-
run jump off a groundout by Gonza-
lez that allowed Miller to score. Miller
compounded the lead for New Phila in
the second inning with a pop fly that
drove in Cervantes and Sweitzer. The
Scotties nabbed their first run in the
bottom of the fifth with a run by Cam-
den Tyson off of a fielder’s choice hit
by Tessa Green. Green scored again in
the bottom of the seventh, but it was Gracie Hutton lined up a strike for Tri-Valley as they took on Maysville. Matthew Dotson
