Maysville football warming up hoping for a W on the
season ahead by Matthew Dotson
As the football teams in the area
all get their heads together to see how
the season will shake out, one team in
Muskingum County in particular is hop-
ing to hit the win bracket more often
than not. The Maysville Panthers com-
ing off of a less-than-stellar 4 – 6 overall
season with a 2 – 3 record in the MVL is
definitely hoping to improve those num-
bers in the coming weeks.
With today as the opening game
day, they want to start with the Lil’
Muskies as they travel out to New Con-
cord they would like nothing more than
to show up and show out on the field.
They beat John Glenn last year on the
same field so it is not out of reach and it
would definitely set the right note for the
start of the season.
They have put in the time practicing
and they scrimmaged last week against
Licking Valley running plays and trying
out different scenarios on the field as
their opponents did the same. The week
prior they were on the road in Claymont
testing plays and making sure everyone
knew their job.
After John Glenn, the lineup chang-
es to the Lakewood Local Lancers on
their home field on Friday, August 30th.
Followed by an away game at nearby
Philo in Duncan Falls, the team that will
be the first big challenge although the
Panthers beat the Electrics 24 – 7 last
season.
With the work done leading up to
gameday, all they can do now is keep
Cayden Hostutler drives the pigskin down the field. Logan Dotson their heads up and march forward to let
their training do the rest.
