Dresden Fire Department Receives Two FEMA Grants

The Village of Dresden and the Dresden Fire department are pleased to announce that the fire department is receiving two FEMA Grants. The first is a grant to replace both of our heart monitors in our medics. This grant also includes the purchase of three A.E.D.s two which will be placed in the front-line fire engines and 1 in our rescue truck. We will also be purchasing a Lucas Device, this will do CPR automatically. This grant is around $80,000.00.
The second grant is to replace our 1991 tanker. Our current tanker is homemade. The truck was an oil field truck converted over to a tanker. The truck carries 3,750 gallons of water. The truck does not have a pump on it. The grant we receive will go towards the purchase of a tanker that has a fire pump and carries 3,000 gallons of water. This truck will also serve as a back-up engine. The truck will have a limited amount of fire hose and firefighting equipment on it. The awarded amount is $300,000.00.
When Chief Wolford applied for this grant, it was stated that the new tanker would replace our current 1991 tanker and our 1993 Engine. Our 1993 engine is primarily a backup. We use it for grass fires and it responds to auto accidents.
