Friday, August 10th was a beautiful morning for golf albeit a little hot, but luckily there were quite a few shade trees at the Hickory Flats Golf Course for the Riverview Girls Golf Invitational. Traversing the course it was refreshing to see the girls from different teams walking around and chatting casually with each other, and complimenting each other on good plays. Even though the schools try to promote good sportsmanship, it is normal for school age kids to get competitive and sometimes envious of other players, but the biggest takeaway I have seen covering the golf games for both boys and girls teams, is that these kids are building friendships with other teams just by spending the day on the course with them.
Several of the golfers mentioned that they liked the Hickory Flats Course because it was kept well and didn’t have very many hills.
