This year’s Hog Roast at Frazeysburg United Methodist brought in a crowd of local residents as well as people from the surrounding area who came together to enjoy great food and company while raising money for the community.
The event which took place on Saturday, August 25th, was the 18th consecutive Hog Roast hosted by Frazeysburg UMC. The church started the event with the idea of bringing everyone together but it has grown into an opportunity to raise money for various needs within the community. One year money from the roast was given to people who were going through cancer treatment. Last year the church was able to donate funds so the pool could update one of their slides. This year, a portion of the proceeds will benefit Circle of Friendship.
Entertainment was provided as a donation by Pure Heart/Soul Legacy. One of the members of the musical group, Vicky King Maple grew up in the church. They provided a lot of energy and they kept the crowd singing along and at one point even doing the twist.
The food table was filled with a selection of foods including BBQ pork, hot dogs, cheesy potato casserole, beans, cottage cheese, applesauce, brownies, cupcakes and many flavors of pie. All of the food was served by members of the church and was offered by donation.
