The echo of horns honking, cheering and sirens could be heard through Trinway and Dresden at approximately 12:30 a.m. Sunday, September 23 when the Tri-Valley Marching Band made it home from a long day of competing to celebrate qualifying for the State of Ohio OMEA competition.
This is the 37th consecutive year that the band has made it to state…37TH YEAR!!! (Yes, I had to type it twice because it is so amazing).
The band’s performance is titled “The Greatest Show”, after the musical “The Greatest Showman”. And what a great show it was. So great in fact that is earned the band 2nd in Class A, and 2nd in Auxiliary at the University of Akron and 1st in Class A, 1st in Auxiliary, and 1st in Percussion at the Revere High School competition. The band placed 4th out of 16 bands overall and the Auxiliary placed 2nd.
Selections from the “Greatest Showman” include The Greatest Show opener, Never Enough, A Million Dreams and This is Me. If you have not been able to catch the band in action there is still time. The Marching Scotties will be performing their full show on the following dates:
October 6: Maysville OMEA Contest
October 20: Tri-Valley Classic
October 27 & 28, November 3 & 4: OMEA State Competition
You can also follow the band on their journey through their Facebook page @tvbands. Of course, we will try to keep you posted as well at www.DresdenBuzz.com.
