Although it is a hard pill to swallow, Tri-Valley Varsity football lost to John Glenn on Friday, October 12th.
It sounds like the beginning of a bad novel, “It was a cold and rainy night”, but it was. I don’t know if any of that factored into the game, but the weather changed so quickly that I am not sure we will get to enjoy any kind of fall temperatures before the snow flies. There were a lot of mistakes made on both sides of the field but it just seemed that John Glenn was able to capitalize on those mistakes a little faster.
The Little Muskies made the first strike and a big one at that. Receiver Joseph Clifford returned a punt from their own 3-yard line breaking tackles to get an opening and run all the way for a 97-yard touchdown.
The Scotties were able to answer back with an interception that ended with a 41-yard touchdown run by #3 Cade Sterling followed by the extra point kick by #46 Kaden Bay to tie the game 7 – 7.
Both teams were having trouble inching down the field, but the Little Muskies were able to pick up another touchdown midway through the third quarter of play bringing the score to 14 – 7 John Glenn.
The Scotties were unable to recover although they came close with a final drive that pushed them within reach, but they came up just short on the final play of the game.
The loss to John Glenn was difficult but the Scotties are still in the battle and you should all come to support them at West Muskingum on Friday, October 19th!! See you there!!
