Kenneth Moore, a long time farmer with a love of tractors and trains, was inspired to start the Country Crossroads Education of Yesterday Farm Show after a conversation he had with a young boy about farming and where food came from. It was obvious from their chat that the boy had a lot to learn.
The farm show which began as one man’s mission to educate younger generations about rural life and farming in the past has turned into a successful annual event.
The Moore family, volunteers and community supporters have kept the event going strong for 14 years.
This year’s event was a spectacular agricultural spectacle. Both, Saturday, October 20th and Sunday, October 21st were filled with fun and interesting things to do and see. The preservation of old machinery was an important part of Kenneth’s vision and there were plenty on display and being used during the two-day show. There were rows of tractors on display, live music, kid’s activities and games, a pipe slide, corn box, two train rides, demonstrations, toy and model displays and even the opportunity for kids to operate and move dirt with a real digger.
“Thank you to all who attended and to all that participated by bringing and showing their equipment. Also, thank you to all our donors. We couldn’t do it without you,” says Kendra Moore Hindel, Kenneth’s daughter and coordinator for the event. “Now I’m planning for next year’s show.”
