In 1999 Dresden native Charlotte Wolford set out on a mission to help the people in her community by starting a food pantry. It began small with just three shelves in a janitor’s closet but has grown to a much larger operation in recent years.
The pantry has come a long way since opening nearly 20 years ago by not only offering food but household items and clothes as well. On average the food pantry helps about 30 families a month and at times has helped up to 75 families a month.
There are about 20 volunteers currently ranging in age from 9 to 60 and above, a huge increase from the early days with just Charlotte and three other volunteers.
The Northgate Open Bible Church opened its doors to the charity by blessing them with ample space for freezers, refrigerators and plenty of shelving among three large rooms in their basement.
Food, clothes or household items may be donated during normal pantry hours (last Saturday of every month from 1:00-2:30 pm). Please consider a donation this holiday season.
The Jubilee Food Pantry is affiliated with the Mid-Ohio Foodbank. If you or someone you know is in need please call 2-1-1 to get started. You must have a valid ID and proof of address (a gas, water or electric bill, etc.)
You can follow the Jubilee Food Pantry on Facebook @dresdenohiojubilee.
Monetary donations may be made via a donate button on their Facebook page. The food pantry also accepts money orders and checks payable to Jubilee Food Pantry and mailed to Northgate Open Bible Church, 10516 Frazeysburg Road, Dresden, Ohio 43821.
