On Tuesday, December, 3rd the Tri-Valley Scotties took on the West Muskingum Tornadoes in boys varsity basketball action at the newly appointed Coach Rich Longaberger court. Their 54 – 36 win was a welcome rebound after the tough loss to Columbus Desales on Friday night.
West Muskingum was the first to hit the scoreboard but that was their only time in front of the Scotties, and it was short lived. Early in the first period, the Dawgs began to dominate the court and the Tornadoes were left spinning in place as Tri-Valley mounted an offensive that would end up with an 11 point lead by the end of the first period with the score at 15 – 4 Scotties.
WM tried to pick up the pieces in the second period and they were able to put together some good drives raising the 11 point deficit they had previously, but unfortunately for them the Scotties showed no sign of letting up their barrage as they put another ten points maintaining their lead at a safe 25 – 15 up to the halftime intermission.
After the break, the Scotties continued their advance steadily increasing their lead to a healthy margin with a trio of triples dropped in by #23 Jack Lyall, #10 Luke Lyall, and #5 Keaton Williams not to mention the slue of doubles and a grand total of 7 foul shots that were laid out while the Tornadoes chased behind. By the time the clouds dispersed the score totaled 54 – 36 giving the Scotties a much-needed win in their MVL home opener against West Muskingum.
