Wednesday, January 16th at New Lexington High School, Tri-Valley Lady Dawgs took on the New Lex Lady Panthers in a conference basketball game. The Scotties were undoubtedly ready for this game and came out of the gate scoring and never looked back.
Much like the rest of the season so far, the Lady Dawgs dominated the court against a smaller and less seasoned New Lexington team. Equally adept on offense and defense in this game, Tri-Valley had no real challenge in the scoring department and they were not letting the Panthers land many shots as is evident with the 32 – 8 lead the Scotties had going into the locker room at halftime.
After the half, Tri-Valley roared back onto the court as if they were fighting to get back from a deficit they never had. They pushed through the New Lex Defense repeatedly going out, around, and over the players to get to the hoop.
New Lexington continued to struggle to even get possession of the ball let alone land a shot or two. By the end of the third period, Tri-Valley had increased their total to 51 points while the Panthers barely made it to 14 points.
The fourth period was even more intense, New Lexington tried to step up their defensive efforts, but only ended up getting more penalties for fouls and costing themselves some possessions that could have garnered more points on their board. Even with the ramp up in defense, Tri-Valley couldn’t be stopped they blasted fourth another 16 points to the Panthers 5 points added to end the game at a crushing 67 – 19 win against the New Lexington Panthers. Overall the Lady Dawgs are now 13-1 and 10-1 in MVL play. Way to go Scotties!
