Senior Center Celebrates Valentine’s Day

Holidays are an extra special time to take advantage of Dresden’s phenomenal Bonnie Longaberger Senior Center. Some time on or near most holidays, the seniors get together to celebrate with games, activities, entertainment and other special treats.

This Valentine’s Day the center treated just over 30 individuals to a fun mid-day party. There were bags to decorate for a card exchange, ice cream and cupcakes for dessert which were brought in by generous members, a medley of games followed by the chance to exchange valentines.

Rudy Williamson brought his special Valentine, his wife Janet, to the Valentine’s Day party. The couple met at the Senior Center about 6 or 7 years ago while working at a yard sale. Janet was drawn to Rudy initially because of his sense of humor. They had also run into one another at the area gospel sings. Both found common ground in having lost their spouses a number of years ago. In January, six months after their first encounter at the Senior Center the couple married.

This holiday celebration, like many gatherings at the facility, demonstrates why the Bonnie Longaberger Senior Center is a welcoming place of love and friendship.
