Successful Gymnastics Meets Result In State Appearance for Sophomore Olivia Combs

What an amazing winter sports season it has been for Tri-Valley! District and/or state appearances in every sport including gymnastics!

February 14th Tri-Meet
Their recent home appearance on February 14 at Champion Gymnastics showcased some very strong performances from a very determined group of young ladies.


Tri-Valley was the host to competitors from five other schools including; teams from Delaware Hayes and Buckeye Valley as well as individual competitors from Rosecrans, Ridgewood and Coshocton.


Two of Tri-Valley’s gymnasts took to the vault to secure two of the three top positions in the category. Olivia Combs placed second and Cameron McCullough left with a third-place finish.


On bars, Keira Lacy grabbed third place and Olivia Colmbs placed again this time in fourth.


Cameron McCullough and Keira Lacy took the fourth and fifth spots on balance beam.


Once on the floor three of the athletes wowed spectators with placing in top spots including a first-place performance by Cameron McCullough, third place by Olivia Combs, and the fourth spot was earned by Keira Lacy.


The victory for the all-around competition went to Olivia Combs with teammates Cameron McCullough coming in third and Keira Lacy placing in fourth.


All competitors did a fantastic job and as a whole, Tri-Valley won the team competition with a 133.4, over Delaware Hayes and Buckeye Valley.

Central District Meet
Tri-Valley gymnasts advanced to the Central District Competition at Worthington Kilbourne on Saturday, February, 23.


It was a stiff competition with 26 full teams and 36 schools represented all vying for the top three spots and a seat at the state meet.


The pressure was on, but Tri-Valley pulled out the stops proving they were up for the challenge. That was certainly reflected in their final team high score of 134.7 which resulted in a sixth-place finish in a highly competitive team race. This was also the highest score the team achieved this year.


In individual standings, sophomore Olivia Combs tore up the competition earning second place on vault. She was just slightly edged out of first place by only a mear .025 seconds.


Just to put things into perspective…there were more than 140 gymnasts who competed on each event Only the top eight move onto the state meet this coming Saturday, March 2nd at Hilliard Bradley High School.


The win was beyond good enough to qualify Olivia for her first ever state appearance.
