Tri-Valley Middle Schoolers took to the pool once again in their third meet at the MRC in Zanesville. The competition Friday night consisted of 11 schools in and around Muskingum County. As the 12 events concluded, the young Scotties finished in 2nd place to a strong team from Barnsville.
Individual events began with six Tri-Valley athletes going to the blocks in the 50 Yard Backstroke. Abri Mallett, Nora Dunn and Eli McDonald led the way as they finished 3rd, 5th and 8th respectively followed by Brady Swope, Hayden Weck and Isaac Lanning. As the distance was increased to 100 Yards, Mallett and McDonald touched in 4th and 7th followed by Swope and Lanning.
In the 50 Yard Breaststroke, Mazie Mallett finished in 6th place followed by teammates Ally Barclay, Kendyll Buckner, Katie Davis and Hayden Weck. There were no entries for Tri-Valley in the 100 Yard event.
Scotty swimmers were well represented in the 50 Yard Freestyle event. Top finishers in the 50 were Abri Mallett, Nora Dunn and Emma Lewis. They were followed by teammates Kendyll Buckner, Katie Davis, Hayden Weck, Brady Swope and Isaac Lanning. Swimmers Alex Dale and Ally Barclay finished 4th and 5th in the longer 200 Free.
Emma Lewis was the top Scotty finisher in the 50 Yard Butterfly and Mazie Mallett led the way for the Junior Dawgs in the 100 Individual Medley. Mallett was followed by Alex Dale, Ally Barclay, Kendyll Buckner, Eli McDonald and Katie Davis.
Always exciting, the relays didn’t disappoint tonight. Tri-Valley entered three teams in the 200 Medley Relay. The “A” squad of Dunn, Lewis, Mazie Mallett and Abri Mallett finished 5th, the “B” team of McDonald, Barclay, Kendyll Buckner and Dale came in 9th and the “C” relay of Davis, Ethan Wolfel, Ryleigh Crooks and Swope captured 11th place.
In the final event of the night, the Scotty squad of Mazie Mallett, Alex Dale, Nora Dunn and Abri Mallett finished a strong 2nd followed by teammates Kendyll Buckner, Hayden Weck, Eli McDonald and Emma Lewis.
In all Tri-Valley swimmers swam well and continue to improve. Their final meet is scheduled for Friday, April 12 at the MRC.
