Kids ages 18 and under were invited to enter a coloring contest for a chance to win a giant Easter basket full of goodies. There were 57 entries from kids ranging in age from 3 to 18. We enjoyed seeing all of the entries come in via mail, in person and through email. A large envelope full of 21 coloring pages from Miss. Starrett’s Kindergarten class was a nice surprise and made the 6 and under category a very competitive one with 37 very well done submissions. The 7-12 category had 15 pictures to judge and the 13-18 year olds sent in 5. Colored pages were separated into three age categories, 13-18, 7-12, and 6 and under.
The judging process was much more challenging than we expected. First, after printing off the emailed coloring pages we separated each of the pictures into their appropriate age groups. Second, we folded all of the forms under so ages and contact details did not influence our decisions. Then, we picked the standouts from the group based on these things; neatness, creativity, and use of color. Finally, after narrowing our favorites down to three in each group we picked a winner and we added two runners-up from each age group.
Each of the winners received an Easter basket with candy, toys, snacks and art supplies. The runners-up received a chocolate Easter bunny.
Thanks to all who entered the contest. You all did an amazing job and made it so difficult to select a winner. Look for more coloring contests in the future in the Dresden Buzz!
