Tri-Valley Middle School swimmers wrapped up their 2019 swim season in an impressive manner last Saturday at the MRC in Zanesville. Ten athletes, some of whom will move on to compete for Tri-Valley High School in the fall, posted their last middle school times as they finished in third place in a field of 10 neighboring swim squads.
Leading off the performances were the relay swimmers Nora Dunn, Emma Lewis, Mazie Mallett and Abri Mallett who captured third place in the 200 Yard Medley Relay followed by teammates Eli McDonald, Ally Barclay, Alex Dale and Hayden Weck in the same event.
Capping the meet was a second relay in which Abri Mallett, Emma Lewis, Nora Dunn and Mazie Mallett again captured third place but this time in the 200 Yard Free Relay. In this event, they were followed by teammates Ally Barclay, Brady Swope, Eli McDonald and Alex Dale who finished in the eighth position.
In individual events, Abri Mallett and Nora Dunn finished in 2nd and 8th respectively in the 50 Free followed by fellow Dawgs Alex Dunn, Eli McDonald and Hayden Weck. As the distance was doubled, Scotties Abri Mallet, Mazie Mallett and Emma Lewis finished in 4th, 6th and 12th respectively in the 100 Free with, Brady Swope and Isaac Lanning filling out the field for Tri-Valley.
Once again, doubling the distance, three familiar names went to the blocks. Ally Barclay, Emma Lewis and Alex Dale touched in 5th, 6th and 7th places respectively to all add points to the Tri-Valley totals. The Scotties were represented in the 100 Yard IM by Alley Barclay and Alex Dale. The duo came in 5th and 6th as they showed-off all four strokes in this event.
Swimmer Emma Lewis was the lone entrant in the 50 Yard Butterfly where she finished 11th to add to the Scotty totals. Scotty entrants in the 50 Breaststroke were Mazie Mallett and Eli McDonald who finished 5th and 12th for the Dresden school.
Tri-Valley was represented in the 100 Backstroke by Abri Mallett (3rd), Nora Dunn (5th), Brady Swope (11th) and Hayden Weck (12th) and in the 100 Breaststroke by Ally Barclay who placed 6th.
In all, the Scotty swimmers performed well and have progressed during the season. All are optimistic for future swim competitions at Tri-Valley High School.
