In a blow-out win over West Muskingum the Lady Dawgs were batting-a-thousand and making them count. #16 Savannah Shumway had a great afternoon with 6 RBIs including a grand slam in the first, a single in the second, and a home run in the third inning of play.
West Muskingum thought they were doing ok with an early lead in the top of the first inning but in the bottom of the first the Lady Dawgs came to the plate to show what they were all about…hits! At her first at bat of the afternoon with bases loaded #16, Savannah Shumway smashed a grand slam to take the lead at 4 – 1 Scotties, and they never looked back. #15 Maddy Wortman stepped up to the plate to hit a single to right field bringing in #12 Brooke Hunter and bringing the score to 6 – 1 Tri-Valley. On the very next at bat, #2 Alex Lemley doubled to left field bringing in Wortman and topping the inning score at 7 – 1 Scotties.
After a 1,2,3 top of the second inning, the Lady Dawgs were back at the plate and ready to hit some more! #9 Kearstin Dumolt singled on a fly ball to left field bringing #6 Hannah Worthington across the plate for 8 – 1 Tri-Valley. Next up #16 Savannah Shumway singles on a shot to left letting #19 Rachael Cox score the ninth run for the Scotties. A wild pitch allowed courtesy runner #17 Corina Kain to make it home and bring the score to 10 – 1. #5 Reagan Baughman hit a liner to center bringing home Shumway and the score was 11 – 1 to end the inning.
Just like the second inning #
#14 Vanessa Ashcraft stepped on the mound for Dawson and brought down the top of the inning in similar 1,2,3 style. And on the very first at-bat of the bottom of the fourth, #6 Hannah Worthington hit a line-drive homer over the left field wall and topped off the score at 15 – 1 Tri-Valley.
Pitcher #13 Janessa Dawson took home the victory by going 3 innings allowing one run on two hits, striking out seven Tornadoes. Another outstanding win for the Lady Dawgs, keep up the good work!
