9 Tri-Valley Senior Athletes Attend Ceremonial Signing for Collegiate play

On Monday, May 6th, Tri-Valley High School hosted a ceremonial signing for 9 Seniors who were moving on to continue their sport career at the college level. TVHS Athletic Director Erin Nezbeth, as well as the respective coaches, started off the evening congratulating and praising the accolades of the 9 seniors who were being recognized. One senior athlete was not in attendance, Savannah Shumway signed earlier this year and will be playing softball at Kentucky Christian next spring.

Kearstin (Utie) Dumolt will be attending Muskingum University to play softball and Major in Special Education/Early Childhood Education.  She is a four- year letter winner in both volleyball and softball.  She has been named a first-team All-MVL and All-District performer in both volleyball and softball.  She was a member of two MVL Championship Softball teams.

Janessa Dawson will be playing softball and attending Grove City College to major in Exercise Science.  She is a four-year letter winner in both volleyball and softball.  She has been named first team All-MVL 2 years as well as first team all-district.  She was named the 2018 MVL Pitcher of the Year and Eastern District Player of the Year.  She was a member of two MVL Championship softball teams.  Janessa also excelled in the classroom and is a member of the TVHS National Honor Society, as well as having achieved the scholar-athlete award each year.

Justin Fernburg will be going to Capital University this fall to participate in baseball.  He is a four-year letter winner and has been named 2nd team all-MVL in 2017 and 2018.  He was also named to the Eastern District 2nd team in 2018.  Coach Yoder said this about Justin “He has put in a tremendous amount of work to make himself a college-level baseball player.  He has been a huge asset to have over his career and provided great leadership the last two years.”

Tyler Kinney will be attending Capital University this fall to major in Business and participate in football.  He has been a participant in football all four years of high school.  During his years, the football team has had a tremendous amount of success.  They have won MVL Championships each year of Tyler’s career.  Tyler was also a member of the 2017 State Runner-Up team.

Garrett French will be going to Marietta College this fall and will be a member of the football team while majoring in Sports Management.  Garrett was a 1st team all-MVL performer his Junior and Senior seasons.  He was also a first team all Eastern District and Special Mention All-Ohio Player this past year. Garrett was also a member of the track and basketball teams during his high school years and has earned the scholar-athlete award five times and has also received his Honor Letter.

Garrette Miller will be playing football this fall at Otterbein and majoring in Business Management while there.  He was a 1st team all MVL, 1st team All-Eastern District, and 1st team All-Region performer.

Cade Sterling will be majoring in Education and playing football at Otterbein.  He was named 1st team All-MVL and Eastern District this past fall.  He was also recognized as the MVL Defensive Back of the Year along with earning 2nd Team All-Ohio Status.

Kaden Lawler will be majoring in Business/Finance at Otterbein as well as playing football.  He has been named 1st team All-MVL and All-Eastern District the last two seasons.  This past season he was named to the 1st team All-Ohio list. 

Chase Kendrick will be majoring in Optometry next fall at Otterbein and playing for their football team.  This past fall he was named 1st team All-MVL, 1st Team, All-Eastern District, and 1st team All-Ohio.  He was also named the MVL Linebacker of the Year, MVL Punter of the Year, and Eastern District Defensive Player of the Year and was selected to participate in the 2019 North-South All-Star game of which his team won. “The game was cold but it was a great experience” stated Kendrick.
