Tri-Valley started out strong against rival Sheridan team by not giving them a run until the bottom of the 4th inning and they held the lead throughout the game despite a slight hiccup in the seventh inning. But the bats were swinging for the Scotties and it showed in this MVL clinching 10-6 win.
After two outs in the opening inning of the game #9 Brennon Mitchell stepped up to the plate to nail a hard grounder to center field bringing home #5 Ty Smith and putting the Scotties on the board 1 – 0. The next at-bat #22 Kaden Lawler also grounded to center bringing in Mitchell and the Scotties were off to the races with a 2 – 0 lead.
In the second inning #3 Skye Bryan added one to the score when he hit a sacrifice fly to right field and allowed #24 Chase Kendrick to score, 3 – 0 Scotties.
Skye Bryan opened up the scoring tally in the fourth with a single to center field that sent home #4 Drew Richert, Scotties 4 – Generals 0. Ty Smith grounded out to the shortstop but it allowed enough time for #8 Dalton Anker to score another run for the Dawgs, 5 – 0.
The Scotties allowed a single run in the bottom of the 4th inning before coming back in the top of the 5th with a single by Chase Kendrick to left field that sent Kaden Lawler across home plate. This was followed up by a single smacked to left by Drew Richert allowing #16 Justin Fernburg to score topping off the top of the 5th with a score of Tri-Valley 7 – Sheridan 1.
The Dawgs came back in the top of the 6th inning to light-up the scoreboard again with a single by #6 Aiden Fritter to push Ty Smith to home plate. Later in the inning Justin Fernburg lands a single on a line drive to right allowing Kaden Lawler to score and the Scotties were up 9 – 1 against the Generals.
Skye Bryan scored on a passed ball in the top of the 7th inning to cap Tri-Valley’s score at 10. The Generals did mount a rally in the bottom of the 7th with 4 runs of their own but by this time the damage had been done and the lost to the Scotties 10 – 6.
With this win Tri-Valley locked in the coveted 2019 MVL Champs title. Way to go Diamond Dawgs!
