Library Summer Reading Event Gets Bumpy, Scaley, and Even a Bit Hairy

A room full of about 30 children and their parents and grandparents sat in excitement at the second summer reading event at the Dresden Branch Library.

Three different animals were showcased in this interactive and informative event put on by the library in conjunction with We Lov Pets of Zanesville Ohio.

Harold, the Animal Manager for the pet store brought out the first animal, Sheldon, an 18-year-old tortoise who could not wait to meet all of the kids. He even made an unplanned second appearance later during the presentation.

The next animal to be revealed was a Ballnose Python named William Wallace. Harold held Mr. Wallace so everyone could take turns getting a closer look.

The kids were less shy to come up to pet a guinea pig which was the last of the three visitors.

Everyone enjoyed learning about and visiting with all of the critters but Sheldon was the one who stole the show and captivated the audience.
