Work has begun on the restoration of the World’s Largest Basket which sits on the corner of 5th and Main Streets in Dresden. The basket will be at the center of the Dresden Oktoberfest that will take place on Saturday, October 26th from 10 am to 10 pm. A rededication ceremony will be held at 7:00 pm at the basket (on Fifth Street) during the event.
The all-day event will incorporate common Oktoberfest traditions but also embraces Dresden’s unique basket making history. Weavers will be on hand to help those who want to make their own basket create a one-of-a-kind keepsake to take home. Shops that sell baskets among other things like seasonal and everyday decor, gifts, glassware, antiques, and more will be open. In addition, vendors, live music, food and of course beverages will be available as well. Live and silent auctions will take place at Koehler Auction House.
The event is brought to you by the Dresden Community Association, Son’s of the American Legion, and Friends of the Dresden Parks.
