Tri-Valley Ends Season With Big Win Over Maysville

It was a bitterly cold night at the M.A.C. in Maysville, on November 1st when the Scotties traveled to take on the Panthers. The game started off on the wrong foot for the Dawgs but they quickly turned it around to pull out on of their largest scores of the season with a 71 – 20 win over Maysville.

The Panthers came out “kickin”, and in the first three minutes of the game they had only pushed the ball downfield a short distance before punting to the Scotties, but they managed to grab the fumbled punt and regain control near the 50-yard line. They capitalized on the recovery by landing a 47-yard pass that brought them within 3 yards of the goal, eventually pushing it through the end zone for a touchdown and a two-point conversion to follow taking the lead at 8 – 0 over the Scotties. The Dawgs were not going to just take it lying down and within a minute the Scotties had their own 39-yard touchdown brought in by #22 Blake Sands followed by a 2 point conversion by #33 Jordan Pantaleo to tie the game at 8 – 8. This was just the start for the Scotties, with just over 5 minutes left in the quarter Sands made another 11-yard touchdown and the Dawgs were in the lead 15 – 8. With 3 minutes left #6 Aidan Fritter jets a 43-yard pass to #23 Rob Wachter for a touchdown and Tri-Valley jumps their lead up to 22 – 8. To top off the quarter with only 3 seconds on the clock Fritter takes a quarterback keeper up the middle for a 15-yard touchdown and the Scotties go into the second quarter up 29 – 8.

The onslaught continued into the second quarter and within the first two minutes, Sands landed a 1-yard touchdown to put Tri-Valley at 36 to Maysville’s 8. Maysville was hoping to pick up some points of their own on the next drive but #3 Jalen Goins-Chandler jumped in to intercept a pass meant for Panthers #33 and they made way for Sands to put in a 14-yard touchdown launching the lead to 43 – 8 with just under 3 minutes left in the first half. Goins-Chandler wanted to try again, so he did, and he grabbed another Panther pass to put the Scotties back in possession with only 23 seconds left in the half. On the next play Fritter connected with Wachter for a 93-yard smash of a touchdown to put the nail in the first half at Tri-Valley 50 – Maysville 8.

After halftime, the Panthers were hoping to slow the Scotties down but with a running clock the Scotties just kept pushing on with Sands grabbing a 29-yard touchdown and the score was 57 – 8. With only a minute and a half left in the third quarter #28 Drew Burkhart takes a quarterback keeper 42-yards to paydirt and pumps the score up to 64 – 8.

In the 4th quarter #31 Zach Baker ran the ball for 3 yards to grab another touchdown for the Dawgs and the score was 71 – 8. The Panthers came alive on the kickoff however and ran it in for an 82-yard touchdown against the Scotties and the score was now 71 – 14. The Panthers were not finished, they got the ball back at the 45 with only 2 minutes left to play in the game and on the first play punched in a 45-yard touchdown run with the two-point conversion no good they ended the game Tri-Valley 71 and Maysville 20.

The Scotties season was a great one with a few tough losses but the guys played hard and with a lot of heart. Great job Dawgs!
