Months of hard work and determination have once again paid off for the Tri-Valley Marching Scotties. The band made their 38th consecutive appearance at the OMEA State Marching Band Finals on Saturday, November 2, 2019.
Their very creative art-inspired set titled the “The Arts in Motion” earned them all high marks at Hillard Bradley Stadium. They received one rating of “Excellent” and ten ratings of “Superior” for an overall “Superior” rating at the State Finals!
There were a total of 104 bands that qualified and participated at the State Finals. They were one of 25 class A bands to qualify and only one of six bands in their class to receive a superior rating at the State Marching Finals.
The band has had an outstanding season leading up the finals. They qualified for finals four times and received straight superiors at 2 contests.
Their first competition of the season was at Watkins Memorial where they placed first in Class A, first in Class A Auxiliary, first in Percussion, earned overall auxiliary out of 16 bands, placed second overall in visual/general effect, and third overall out of 14 bands.
The second competition added up to three first-place achievements which included Class A, Auxiliary in Class A, and Percussion. They placed fourth overall out of 12 bands.
They conquered the competition at Zanesville next with 11 straight superiors! They were also named Grand Champions of the contest (5 bands) and placed first in Class A, Auxilary, Percussion, Overall in Auxiliary, Overall Music, Overall Visual, and Overall General Effect.
