During a season where we reflect on being appreciative for what we have, we as a community have so much to be thankful for. The list is extremely long but among those things, we are very fortunate to have a local public library.
Of course, we all know that the Library has educational and entertainment resources aplenty which is a reason to give thanks in itself, but in addition, the library offers so many events for children of all ages, teens, and even adults. These thoughtfully planned events are engaging and provide social opportunities that fight boredom during holiday breaks, cold months when it is too chilly to play outside and during the summer months when school is not in session. Whatever the situation, having a small-town library is a treasure that we sometimes unintentionally take for granted.
Recently the library held Lego Day, an event intended to spark imagination in children and get them out of the house during Thanksgiving break. Lego creations from the afternoon were displayed in the Library after the event for visitors to see.
A similar event was held over the summer this year. Past children’s events have included trips to the Dresden Fire Department to learn about fire safety, outdoor games at the nearby park, a visit from various critters from We Luv Pets, several storytimes – and these are just a few that come to mind. There is an Anime Club for teens, movie nights, crafternoons for adults and so many more opportunities to gather at the Dresden Branch Library.
