Scotties Home Opener Just Shy of a “W”

On Tuesday, December 3rd, at the Rich Longaberger Court, the Scotties fell to rival Sheridan Generals after a hard-fought battle that had the Scotties in the lead late in the 4th only to end it with a 60 – 54 loss.

Scoring started off slowly for the Scotties as they only were able to land two shots in the first quarter as the Generals took an early lead 13 – 4.

The Dawgs quadrupled their scoring in the second quarter thanks to a triplet of three-pointers by #23 Jack Lyall the returning senior. The quarter scoring was also assisted by #10 Luke Lyall and #5 Keaton Williams both with a two-pointer each to end out the quarter still down 24 -16 to the Generals as they headed into the locker room.

After halftime, the Scotties came out determined to take back the lead but were unable to close the gap on Sheridan who ended the 3rd quarter up 37 – 27.

In the fourth quarter the Scotties came alive, even taking back the lead for a brief period thanks to two more triples by #23 Jack Lyall as well as a bevy of other shots by the team amounting to a 27 point quarter for the Dawgs. Unfortunately in the last minutes of the game, Sheridan was able to regain the lead and ended the night up 60 to the Scotties 54.

Leading in scoring for the night was #23 Jack Lyall with 19 points overall followed by #5 Keaton Williams also landing double-digits at 11. The Scotties will take on MVL Conference team West Muskingum on Friday, December 6th.
