Budding Musicians Showcase Progress at 2019 Holiday Concert

Band Students from all four Tri-Valley Elementary Schools came together to perform in front of a large crowd at the annual Holiday 5th and 6th Grade Bands Concert.

The concert included songs such as Claire De Lune, Mary Had a Little Lamb, French Song and Jingle Bells for the fifth grade band. Sixth graders performed Tisket A Tasket, O Come, O Come Emmanuel among other familiar tunes and exercises.

Director Amanda Blevins, who travels to all four schools weekly to work with the students, emphasized how important it was for the students to gain confidence by playing a solo or in an ensemble in front of the crowd. There were around 45 section and solo performances from the fifth grade and just under 20 ensemble performances by sixth-grade band students.

Tri-Valley’s band program begins in 5th grade so the newest band member has only been learning to play for about four months. The progress that the students make from just beginning to a year in at the sixth-grade level is quite remarkable. Also, hats off to Miss Blevins and the staff for keeping such a large group of just under 150 members so organized.

As a treat for the audience and also to show the fifth and sixth graders what they can accomplish, the TV High School Marching Band filed into the gymnasium for an epic performance.
