Dawgs on a Winning Roll Beating Mifflin and Morgan

The Tri-Valley Scotties boys basketball team has been on a winning streak that pushes them ever closer to their MVL title goals.

On Saturday, December 14th, at Rich Longaberger Court the Dawgs took on the Mifflin Punchers. While the Punchers were challenging, the Scotties were up to the task.

The Dawgs dominated the court from the start keeping the Punchers playing catch-up thanks to a quad of three-pointers brought in by #10 Luke Lyall, #3 Jalen Goins-Chandler, and #23 Luke Lyall. The Scotties ended the first up 18 – 11 against the Mifflin defense.

Tri-Valley all but doubled their score in the second quarter as #2 Skye Bryan landed 7 points, #5 Keaton Williams put in 6 points, and #10 Luke Lyall put in the remaining 4 points to send the Dawgs to the locker room up 35 – 22 over Mifflin.

The second half of the game was just as intense with the third quarter seeing the Scotties put in another 11 points to maintain their lead ending the quarter up 46 – 32 against the Punchers who almost matched the push but couldn’t get ahead of the scoring balance.

#5 Keaton Williams lead the scoring for the final quarter with 7 points to add to the total of 14 for the period. Mifflin struggled but to no avail as the Scotties won the game 60 – 48.

Coach McLoughlin’s Dawgs were equally as forceful with conference challenger Morgan on Tuesday, December 17th at McConnelsville.

Morgan started out to be a more formidable foe than Mifflin keeping Tri-Valley’s lead down to just a one-shot advantage through the first three-quarters of the game. But in the 4th quarter, the Scotties came alive and pushed their way to victory with a nice 9 point lead to end the game at 51 – 42 over Morgan.
