Tri-Valley Kicker Wins State Honors

On Saturday, January 11th, at the Parkersburg Art Center, in Parkersburg West Virginia, Tri-Valley kicker Kaden Bay received the top honors at the Mid-Ohio Valley High School Football Awards.

Bay, as well as stand-out Scottie defensive lineman Gyle Bradshaw, were both nominated for awards, Kaden was nominated for Outstanding Kicker, and Gyle was nominated for Outstanding Defensive Lineman.

Surprised by the win, Kaden recalls the day leading up to the award, ” I didn’t think I was going to win, and I didn’t know I had to give a speech, I just found out about it that day. It was very exciting, and I did not expect it” stated Bay.

Jeff Totten from High School Football Weekly was the host and presented the award to Kaden as he approached the podium. As special teams kicker, Kaden had an unheard of season going 40 for 40 point after touchdown kicks in regular-season play. He was nominated for Outstanding Kicker alongside three other Mid-Ohio Valley players, John McConnell of the Morgantown Mohicans, Colten Stotts of the Philo Electrics, and Joel Chevalier of the Warren Warriors.

“I’m very honored to receive this award. I worked very hard and I know everyone else here does too. It’s a lot of hours in the gym, and its very humbling to receive this” stated a surprised Bay.

Just a handful of awards were handed out that night and we are glad that Bay and Bradshaw were among the nominees there to represent Tri-Valley.
