Lady Dawgs Land The Shared MVL Title

The Tri-Valley girls varsity basketball team has had an awesome season with a 15 – 7 overall record and 12 – 2 in the MVL tied only by Sheridan who shares the MVL top title with the Lady Dawgs. The end of the that record for the regular season was a win against the 65th state ranked Maysville Lady Panthers with a total score of 54 – 45.

On Saturday, February 8th, the Lady Dawgs met up with the formidable Maysville Lady Panthers who were holding a 12 – 3 record in conference play and looking to get another win against the Lady Dawgs.

In the first quarter of play the the Scotties and the Panthers played hard matching shot for shot but the Lady Panthers edged out the the Lady Dawgs by 1 point at the end of the first period 12 – 11.

The Tri-Valley girls came alive in the second quarter blasting out a number of shots and pushing ahead of the Panthers to take a massive 29 – 17 lead brought about in part by #11 Riley Tracy’s nine point quarter and an heavy push from the defense to hold Maysville to just 5 points for the quarter.

After halftime the Lady Panthers came out of the locker room looking to tie up the score and they pushed hard for that goal coming up short as the Lady Dawgs pumped up the heat as the quarter drew to a close pushing their lead to 43 – 28 going into the fourth quarter.

The Scotties were able to hold on to the lead and wrap up the MVL important challenge with a final score of 54 – 45 and a share of the title for the season.

#11 Riley Tracy came away with a 17 point high score, followed by #3 Kyndal Howe’s 10 points and 9 points from #15 Lauren King.
