Like the Lady Dawgs, the Scotties boys varsity team could be a co-owner of the MVL title after their upcoming game with Philo at the Dawg House on the 21st of February after grabbing a 59 – 41 win over conference challengers John Glenn on Tuesday, February 11th.
The Dawgs and the Muskies seemed pretty evenly matched up as they started the game on Tuesday night. John Glenn pushed ahead at first but was soon stifled by the Scottie defense as the Dawgs took the lead at the end of the period in a brutal battle to go into the second quarter up 12 – 11.
The Scotties got fired up in the second quarter totally outstepping their hosts and pushing closer to pivotal win with a huge leap to a 30 – 17 lead to go into the halftime locker room.
After the intermission, the Muskies came out quickly trying to stem the bleeding as they pushed to cut down the Scotties lead. They managed to gain a substantial 14 points in the third quarter but against the Scotties own 12 point push it just wasn’t nearly enough and Tri-Valley went into the fourth quarter with a 42 – 31 lead and never looked back.
The final play period was dominated by the Scotties as was much of the game. The Dawgs pumped out shots left and right and finished the game with a 59 – 41 massive deficit for the hosting John Glenn team.
#10 Luke Lyall lead the boys with an impressive 18 points, followed closely by #2 Skye Bryan’s 17 point total, the Dawgs gained 8 points from #5 Keaton Williams, 6 points from #23 Jack Lyall, and another 6 points from #1 Ty Smith. The Scotties face-off against the Philo Electrics on Friday, February 21st at the Rich Longaberger court when they determine whether they will share the MVL title with Sheridan.
