Annual Scout Pack 121 Cake Auction a Huge Success Raising Over $3,000

Local Scout Pack 121 worked hard to provide two cakes each which were to be judged and then auctioned off at the annual Cake Auction Fundraiser which took place on Sunday afternoon, February 23.

Scouts flexed their creativity and team working skills as they collaborated with an adult partner to create their cakes. The entire cake had to be completely edible and fit into one of eight categories. Awards were also given to the overall top seller, committee members choice and scout choice.

This year the top seller was a giant snake cake topped with hundreds of yellow, orange and brown candies. The cake was made by leader Ashlee Hartman and Cub Master Justin Hartman. A s’mores inspired cake by Hunter Maxwell won yummiest looking. Scout Choice went to Cameron Wilson’s basketball cake, and Committee Members Choice was awarded to Joey Gallagher with an Easter-themed creation. Carter Winland’s “Bear’s Day at the Beach” won appropriately named and true to life. Lincoln Lambert’s dual castle cakes won tallest and biggest. The most lopsided award went to Kayden Hixon with his candy-covered chocolate cake. The cake with the best use of the scout theme was a camping cake complete with a tent, fire and Swedish Fish pond by Kendryk Butler. A unicorn cake by Riley Gee Miller was selected as the most colorful.

A room full of business owners, family and scout supporters bid to raise over $3,000 which will go towards the majority of the scouts and leaders camp fees. New tents and other needed equipment will also be purchased with the money raised.

Twenty buyers helped to make the 2020 Summer Camp possible for the scouts. These generous businesses and individuals included Genesis Community Ambulance, Sibling Rivalry, Brewster Travel, Sherry Gee, Papa John, Home Place Realty, Ellen Murphy, Dresden Lodge 103, City Tire, Barnesville Livestock, Brandi Eppley, Century National Bank, Sheriff Matt Lutz, Commissioner Cindy Cameron, Prater’s Market, Shelly & Sands Inc., the Keith Family, Beat Lady (Genny Castro), Patty Wilson and Jeff Longaberger.
