Effective Friday, May 1, visitation restrictions at Genesis Hospital have been changed to allow patients to have one visitor between the hours of 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily; this includes surgical patients. Exceptions will be made for patients at the end of life, disabled patients, and labor and delivery patients. Intermediate Care Nursery and pediatric patients (children age 17 and younger) may have both parents. The Emergency Department will maintain no visitors at this time.
Visitors must be 18 years or older. No visitors will be allowed for confirmed or suspected COVID-19 patients unless special circumstances, as identified above. All visitors coming to the facility will go through a screening process for COVID-19 symptoms, and they will continue to be required to wear a mask during the visit.
Social distancing of 6 feet should be practiced at all times, including in waiting rooms, based on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines. Visitors may be asked to wear further protective equipment such as a gown and gloves. Hand-washing or hand-sanitizing must be performed when entering the building and before entering and exiting a patient’s room. If further protective equipment is required, this must be kept on the entire time in the room. This equipment must be removed before exiting the patient’s room and hand hygiene should be performed immediately.
The changes to the visitation policy are being made as Genesis HealthCare System continues to adjust to the evolving COVID-19 environment while keeping the safety of patients, employees and the community as the top priority.
