Community Pulls Together to Fund 2020 Fireworks Show

The Best Little Town Fireworks Show Around was a huge success despite obsacles.

Cars filled Frew Memorial Park in Frazeysburg to see a fireworks show that truly lives up to its name. The Best Little Town Fireworks Show is the best we have seen and rivals even large city displays thanks to community support.

$7,000 in donations were raised in total to make this year’s celebration possible. About $2,200 came from sponsors including Mary Trusser, AIM (through fundraising), and Dairy Queen in Frazeysburg (via a donation jar). The largest contributor however was Eagle Environmental, a recycling solutions business located in Frazeysburg. One of the company’s co-owners, Chris Sutton, was nominated to run the fireworks committee a few years ago and every year since they raise what they can and then Eagle Environmental puts in the rest.

Holding an event during this time can be challenging. The biggest challenge they have faced was moving forward with plans without knowing whether they would be allowed to proceed. Just days ago the committee received guidelines from the health department.

“We are paying attention to all of the social distancing guidelines and recommendations from the health department but at the same time we are getting together to celebrate the freedom of our country so if you want to wear a mask or not, celebrate from your porch, your car, your yard, however you feel comfortable we want you to do that!” explained Chris just hours before the event began.

In addition to the fireworks show the Frazeysburg Community Pool held a free pool party and the band Crimson Wavelength performed at Frew Memorial Park.
