There is a new ham radio operator in Muskingum County! Derek Jamison, a 7th grade student at Tri-Valley Middle School, took the FCC Technician test on September 2, 2020 and passed.
Derek is one of about 20 students from the elementary school and middle school who participate in the Dresden Elementary Amateur Radio Station Club (DEARS).
Students had the opportunity to take the FCC Technician test which was administered by Members of the local Volunteer examiners and include Devin Phillis, KD8MST; Don Parmiter, N8LJF and Jim Mayercak, WX8J. Derek jumped at the chance and will now soon be receiving his ham radio “call sign” and be active on the airwaves.
