Lady Dawgs Weather the Tornadoes and Move Their MVL Record to 5 – 1

The Scotties girls varsity soccer team took on the West Muskingum Lady Tornadoes at Kenny Wolford Park in Dresden on Thursday, September 24th. The Lady Dawgs were looking to improve their MVL standings and they did just that with a 4 – 0 shutout against West M.

The first period brought a score from #22 Alicia Ritchie with 29:21 left in the period landing the Scotties at 1 – 0 against the Lady Tornadoes. Shortly after #7 Anne Miller netted the ball with a fast kick past the defenders pumping the Scottie score up to 2 – 0 and ending the scoring for the first period.

The second period of the game the girls took a little longer to fight their way through the West M defenders but they did eventually land goal number 3 on a corner-kick, head bump by #12 Haylee Whyde, with a finishing kick by #10 Claire Martin. The final score of the night came off of nice mid-field kick by #12 Haylee Whyde with just 4:29 left on the clock. West Muskingum was never able to recover and the Scotties overall game score went to 7 – 4 with 5 – 1 standing in the MVL.

The shutout was attributed to #81 Allison Yingling whose quick hands kept the Lady Tornadoes playing catchup all night.
