Community Comes Together For Candle Lighting Ceremony

A candle lighting ceremony was held in front of the Dresden Police Station the evening of Sunday, September 27 in remembrance of Captain Charles Danny Harlow who passed away on September 13.

An estimated 375 – 400 people came out to show their support, and pay tribute to a beloved hero in the community. There were many speakers who shared stories of how Captain Harlow made an impact on their lives and the lives of those around him.

Pastor Dan Wells of the Dresden United Methodist Church led the group in prayer and initiated the candle lighting ceremony. “You are not alone and we are in this together,” pastor Wells said as he lit the first candles.

A recording of the a last call radio broadcast to Harlow which was transmitted by Muskingum County Dispatcher Chas Cosgrave.

The last call was broadcast over the radio as everyone stood in silence and held their lit candles to the sky. The ceremony concluded with Laura Dotson singing accompanied by her father Bobby Dotson.
