After having success in the first two playoff games against Columbus Centennial and Jackson Ironmen, the Dawgs moved on to Bishop-Hartley where they met a greater challenge.
On Friday, October 23rd, at the Hawks own Jack Ryan field, the Scotties showed up to play, but were met with a strong defense and an even stronger offense, putting themselves on the board almost immediately and tapping an additional touchdown in before the end of the first quarter. By almost the end of the second quarter the Hawks had a tough 28 – 7 lead over the Scotties just before being put on a two and a half hour weather delay.
After the long stay on the bus, the Scotties came out and within the few minutes remaining in the quarter managed to lay down a 54-yard touchdown narrowing the score to BH 28 – TV 14. However they were just not able to manage another score against the defense of the Hawks and with one added touch down from Bishop Hartley the final score went down as Hawks 34 – Scotties 14.
Blue Devils
Even though the Scotties were out of the race for a championship, they still had one eligible week of gameplay left and Zanesville being in the same situation, the decision was made for “One More Night Under The Lights” as the Zanesville Blue Devils made their way to Jack Anderson Stadium for a big rivalry showdown.
The Devils came out swinging, landing the first touchdown against the Dawgs with a 79-yard run to the endzone and putting their names in lights with a 7-0 lead. The Scotties answered back shortly after with a quarterback keeper by #19 Aidan Fritter just after #2 Jordan Pantaleo brought the return to the 2 yard line. The Dawgs just kept on punching through with another touchdown from Pantaleo putting the Scotties up 14 – 7 before halftime.
After the shortened halftime the Dawgs were able to get into good enough field position to have Coleson McCullough attempt a 26-yard field goal that was good putting Tri-Valley up 17 – 7. Fritter found Pantaleo open downfield for a long 69-yard touchdown, and the Scotties increased their score to 24 – Zanesville 7. To top off the night #78 Caden King picked off a Zanesville pass for the final TD of the night ending the scoring at Tri-Valley 31 – Zanesville 7. What a way to end the season, great job Scotties, and Coach West!
