Tri-Valley swimmers have been busy as they start the 2020-21 swim season. With three meets in one week, Coach Christy Holmes and her crew have spent a lot of time in the water and have learned and progressed. Most recently, the competition has been from local rivals Coshocton, River View and John Glenn on December 12 in the Coshocton pool. That facility is a ‘meter’ pool as opposed to ‘yards’ so it takes a little adjustment on the part of the swimmers.
Scoring for this meet is also a little different. The meet is identified as a “triple-dual meet” in which each of the squads is evaluated against each of the others, while all race in the same event. So, it is possible for a swimmer to record three ‘first-place’ finishes in a single race if that swimmer has a faster time than the other three competitors in the same race.
For ease of reporting, all of the Scottie swimmers will be ranked against all competition in each event. Reviewing the results, Tri-Valley athletes performed very well and swimmers and coaches will have a challenge comparing these results in a ‘meter’ pool with those in a pool measured in ‘yards’.
As usual, the meet began with the Girls 200 Meter Medley Relay. Also, as usual, the foursome of Alex Dale, Mazie Mallett, Larissa Lynch and Seryna Mann impressed with a win as they out-touched River View by nearly 5 seconds. Boys notched a second-place spot as Mason McDaniel, Cyrus Dittmar, Hansel Holmes and Schwan McDonald finished just seconds behind the first-place team from River View and established a NEW Tri-Valley record in the process.
