Genesis HealthCare System is adding an online option to register for the COVID-19 vaccine due to the large volume of phone calls that are being received by the Genesis COVID-19 Line. For those who are eligible to make appointments now, which is people 75 years and older, go to genesishcs.org/vaccine to register.
“We are pleased so many people are signing up to get the COVID-19 vaccination, because it shows our community’s dedication to protecting themselves and their loved ones, and to help eradicate this virus,” said Matt Perry, CEO of Genesis HealthCare System. “The large volume of calls – more than 3,000 today in the first hour – is creating a challenge because our phone system was not built to efficiently handle this extremely high volume of calls. Our priority is to provide you with an easy and efficient way of getting scheduled.”
For the fastest results, community members should go to genesishcs.org/vaccine. Genesis is asking everyone with Internet access to register online and only people without Internet access to call the Genesis COVID-19 Line at 740-297-8610, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. We will call people to schedule their appointments, so they don’t have to be placed on hold.
Genesis is following the Ohio Department of Health’s (ODH) vaccination plan in offering the vaccine to the groups of people outlined in Phase 1b of the plan. People 80 years of age and older are eligible to receive the vaccine beginning Wednesday, Jan. 20. People 75 years of age and older are eligible to receive the vaccine beginning Wednesday, Jan. 27. Please note, details may change based on the number of vaccinations received and updates from the state.
Appointments are required; no walk-ins will be accepted. The vaccines will be given at the Genesis COVID-19 Vaccination Center, 3575 Maple Ave., Zanesville, in the former Elder-Beerman location at Colony Square Mall. Those with appointments will enter the Genesis COVID-19 Vaccination Center through the exterior entrance from the parking lot on the north side of the building. It will not be accessible from inside the mall. Instructions will be provided when the appointment is made.
