Barry S. Stayner, 71, of Frazeysburg, Ohio died unexpectedly Wednesday morning, February 17, 2021 at his home and had also bravely battled cancer for the past year.
He was born on August 5, 1949 in Marion, Ohio and was a 1967 graduate of Lexington High School. Barry proudly served his country in the United States Army, 3rd Armored Division from 1969 to 1971. He retired in 2008 from Pretty Products of Coshocton after 30 years of service and previously worked as a manager for 10 years with Imperial Oil of Ohio. Along with his strong work ethic, Barry was extremely artistic and mechanically inclined. He enjoyed painting, woodworking, and car maintenance and never had to take a vehicle to a mechanic. Barry was also a member of the Northside Nazarene Church in Zanesville. He loved the Beatles, The Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Cincinnati Bengals.
Surviving is his loving wife of 52 years, Janice L. (Longshore) Stayner whom he married September 15, 1968; one daughter, Tammy (Kyle) Smith of Lewis Center, Ohio; one son, Eric (Cynthia) Stayner of Frazeysburg and three granddaughters, Payge, Lyndsy, and Morgen Smith. Also surviving is one sister, Mary Jo Stayner (Dave Slater) of Marion, Ohio, a niece, several nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas M. Stayner and Mary Jane (Corbin) Stayner Graham, and a baby brother, John Stayner.
Calling hours will be 5pm to 8pm Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street. Masks are required to be worn.
Funeral services will be 1:00pm Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at the funeral home with Dr. James A. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Frazeysburg Cemetery.
