TVHS Wrestling Update: Scottie Wrestlers Prep for Post Season Fresh Off MVL Team Title Performance

by Jon Hardman, TVHS Wrestling Coach

The Dawgs came away as team champions of the Muskingum Valley League Tournament on Saturday, February 13 at the host New Lexington High School site.

The last time Tri-Valley won this tournament was 2012, so this was big for us!

Scottie wrestlers – on the strength of four first-place championships and 14 total placers – narrowly edged out a tough New Lexington team, scoring 227 points. New Lex finished second with 211 and Sheridan finished 3rd with 146.

Placing for the Dawgs were:
106 – Wyatt Dennison 3rd
113 – Andrew Tackett 4th
120 – Rylan Snedeker 6th
126 – Joseph Eckelberry 1st
132 – Garrett Folden 3rd
138 – Cullen Van Rooyen 1st
145 – Isaiah Armstrong 2nd
152 – Jason Patterson 2nd
160 – David Coleman 6th
170 – Ethan Paladino 4th
182 – Karter Jones 2nd

I couldn’t be prouder of how hard this group has worked to get where they are. After graduating nine wrestlers off last year’s team, many wrote us off as “rebuilding.” These boys continue to work hard and exceed expectations.

It’s time to prepare for the post-season now, and we are “back to work!” The Claymont Sectional tournament is on Saturday, February 27.
