Obituary: Ronald Arlen Brown

A funeral service for Ronald “Ron” Brown, age 68, of Frazeysburg, formerly of Columbus was held on Thursday, March 11, at 7 p.m. at The Heath Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, with Chaplain Jeff Smith, officiating. The Fraternal Order of Police Honor Guard provided Law Enforcement Honor Service.

Ron completed his final tour of duty and passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle against cancer on Saturday, March 6, 2021.

He was born December 23, 1952 in Nelsonville, Ohio to the late Richard A. and Wilda (Smith) Brown. He was a graduate of Linden McKinley High School and retired from the Clinton Township Police Department. Ron had over 40 years of service in Law Enforcement including Village of Jacksonville, Village of Glouster, City of Nelsonville, Union Twp (Butler Co), Athens Co Sheriff Dept, Village of Chauncey Auxilary Police Dept. Ron was the founding Chief of Police for the Village of Frazeysburg as well as the Village’s Safety Service Director. He also established and was the commander of the Police Academy at the Eastland Career Center as well a substitute teacher at the Mid-East Vocational School in Zanesville. Ron was also the Director of Investigations and Training for Moling & Associates, and the owner of Safety & Security Training Consultants. Ron loved to spend time with his family. With his wife, he enjoyed trips to beaches and any areas with water. He liked to be on his Kabota tractor and interact with his grandkids. A favorite pastime was his road course corvette racing.

He is survived by his best friend and wife of 43 years, Dorothy (Wolf) whom he married, December 3, 1977; two sons, Douglass (Jessica) Brown and Scott (Diana Eblin) Brown, both of Frazeysburg; a sister, Becky (Rodney) Humphey of Glouster; brother-in law, Richard Wolf; a sister-in-law, Sonja (Andy) Covert, four nephews, Mark Brown, Alex Covert, Justin Covert and Zach Brown; four nieces Alicia Woods , Kristen Fields, Amy Adams, and Melissa Fleming, as well as two grandchildren, Averie and Conor, who he truly adored. He also leaves behind many close friends in the Law Enforcement Family, and Corvette racing community.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Greg Brown; and nephew, Jason Brown.
