Tri-Valley Gymnast, Olivia Combs, Qualifies for State 3rd Year in a Row

Tri-Valley senior Olivia Combs has been in gymnastics since she was 6 years old, and when she was 11 she was the All-Around Chamion at the state competition for level 5 gymnastics. She joined the middle school gymnastics team her 7th and 8th grade years and has been part of the Tri-Valley team coached by Jen Martin all 4 years of high school.

During her high school gymnastics career Olivia has qualified for state competition 3 times, her sophomore and junior years she qualified for vault and her junior year she placed 2nd at district competition. This year Olivia placed 8th on the beam out of 154 girls and 11th all around at the district meet.

“Olivia Combs has been a consistent gymnast in our program for many years, her competition experience and her quiet lead-by-example nature has been a joy to coach throughout her high school career. Olivia handles the pressure of competition and has been a go to athlete for our team for four years.” stated coach Jen Martin

On top of her outstanding gymnastics career, Olivia has been a member of the Tri-Valley track team since 7th grade and joined the indoor track team her junior year. This year she qualified for state competition in the triple jump, which was a surprise to her since she only tried it for the first time 3 months prior. Both state meets, the one for gymnastics and the one for indoor track, fell on the same day this year so Olivia had a tough choice, but she headed to state competition for indoor track where she got 7th place in the triple jump and was awarded All-Ohio honors along with 2 of her teammates.

After graduation, Olivia has plans to attend West Liberty College where she has already been accepted and they are interested in having her be part of their track, acrobatics, and tumbling teams.
