On Thursday, March 18th, Tri-Valley Honors student Claire Martin signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Walsh University in Canton, where she will be joining their advanced law program with the ability to graduate early and hopes to move on to her fathers alma mater The School of Law at the University of Akron. Claire was recruited by Walsh University to join their track and field program based on her outstanding performances in both indoor and outdoor track for the Scotties.
Martin is a multifaceted athlete and has been a part of the Tri-Valley track team since 8th grade competing in 3 outdoor track seasons in high school as well as 2 indoor track seasons where this year she placed 6th overall at state competition and earned All-Ohio honors.
Claire has spent the last four years as a member of the Lady Scotties Varsity Soccer team where she has been a lead scorer for the team and great leader every season. In her final season with the Lady Dawgs, Claire helped the team to 3rd place in the MVL and landed both scores for the Sectional Championship that won the title for the Scotties. Claire was named Second Team All-MVL for the 2020 season.
Claire has also been a big part of the Tri-Valley gymnastics team aside from taking her junior year off from the team to focus on Track. This year Claire was a team captain along with Olivia Combs. The Tri-Valley gymnastics team competed at Districts and ended the season with a season high team score of 126.6 placing them 14th out of 24 teams.
“The Lady Dawgs had a fantastic year that was full of growth and gaining competition experience. We were very fortunate to have Claire Martin and Olivia Combs as our two seniors to captain and guide our team. Claire Martin rejoined the team after taking her junior off to focus on track. Having Claire back added consistency for our team while also bringing great leadership and a competitive spirit that was a needed spark for our team.” stated Tri-Valley Gymnastics head coach Jen Martin.
Congratulations Claire, Tri-Valley Athletics programs will greatly miss you, but Walsh is earning one dedicated athlete and student!
