Tri-Valley Baseball Making Big Strides in The MVL

The Dawgs have been on quite a roll so far this season with a three game winning streak that pushes them up to 3 – 1 in the MVL and 5 – 1 overall.

On Saturday, April 3rd, at Kenny Wolford Park, the Scotties faced off against non-league opponent Indian Valley who started the scoring off in the top of the first inning to take a brief lead at 1 – 0 against the Dawgs. After taking down the next three hitters one by one, the Scotties were ready for their turn. Just four hitters into the bottom of the first the Dawgs lit up the scoreboard with a 3-run homer by #24 Jake Kinder to instantly take the lead at 3 – 1 over Indian Valley.

In the top of the 3rd Indian Valley tied up the game on an infield hit that brought in the tying runs drawing the score at 3 all, but that just set the Scotties ablaze as they turned the bottom of the 3rd into a six-run free-for-all that finished out their score at 9. Indian Valley was able to put up two more runs but not enough to catch the Dawgs and they closed out the game after 7 innings with a score of Tri-Valley 9 – Indian Valley 5.

Monday, April 5th, the Scotties traveled to Philo and brought their bats as they scored early and often bringing the Electrics to a near shutout as they Dawgs held a 14 – 0 lead by the top of the third inning with barrage of doubles and triples landed by the Scottie heavy hitters for the 7-run second inning.

The Dawgs started the scoring in the first inning with #6 Aidan Fritter scoring on a passed ball, followed by a double by #2 Hansel Holmes taking an early lead with 3 – 0 against the Electrics.

The second inning brought out the best of the Dawgs as they committed to a 7-run inning based off of a double by Fritter, a triple by #3 Jalen Goins-Chandler, and a couple of singles by Holmes and #9 Landon Harney putting the hurt on the Electrics with a punishing 10 – 0 lead.

The top of the third saw the Scotties pile on 4 more runs from a string of hits including a single by #5 Ty Smith, a double by #1 Trevor Yoder, a line out by Holmes, and fly out by Harney. The Scotties made a comeback impossible for the Electrics who were only able to put up two runs late in the third before eventually ending the game after 5 innings with Tri-Valley at 14 – Philo 2.

After the short trip to Philo on Monday, the Scotties made their way back to Kenny Wolford Park in Dresden Tuesday afternoon to challenge Morgan for a regular league game.

The Scotties started scoring in the first inning with a single from #24 Jake Kinder that set the score at 1 – 0. In the second inning #8 Ethan McClellan hit a single to bring in a run pushing the score to 2 – 0. Kinder grounded out for another RBI in the third slowly chipping away at the Morgan defense with a 3 – 0 lead.

Pitcher #13 David Coleman was able to shut out the Raiders and the offense was able to continue to add to the score for the Scotties eventually ending the game with a mercy after 6 innings with a 10 – 0 lead.

The Dawgs are set to be back on the road Monday, April 12th as they head to Maysville for a 5pm game time.
