Removal of the old astro-turf was taking place early last week in preparation for the new turf to be installed along with new goal posts. The Motz Group (a company responsible for the installs of 500+ sports fields around Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky) was given the green light to move forward on the replacement of the current turf that has been deteriorating for the past few years.
Much of the replacement will be paid for by maintenance funds set aside by the school district over the life of the field, knowing that it would have to be replaced eventually. Additionally the Tri-Valley Touchdown Club, an organization put together by parents and supporters of the Tri-Valley Football Program, donated $120,000 to the planned improvement. The donation was part of a 10-year project that used “rainy day” funds that were created by a portion of donations from touchdown club supporters over that timespan.
“After a recent inspection of the field the grade given was at the bottom range of what was acceptable and we didn’t want a tear or something to happen to the field mid-season when it could not be repaired in time for the next game, so we approved moving forward with replacing it now” stated Tri-Valley School Board Member Scott Ford.
