Genesis patients using MyChart see information earlier

Patients who use MyChart, Genesis HealthCare System’s electronic medical record system, can now see additional documentation from their providers. The new information available includes progress and consult notes, medical history and physicals, procedure notes and discharge summaries, which will become available as soon as the note is signed. In addition, most lab and X-ray reports are accessible in MyChart without delays. Pathology reports are released after a three-day delay.

“The additional information patients can access will benefit them greatly,” said Scott Wegner, M.D., Chief Medical Officer, Genesis HealthCare System. “The more information patients have about their own healthcare, the better we can make decisions together about their care. Patients having this kind of access to important clinical information and working as a team with their providers can lead to better outcomes for patients.”

A federal mandate, the 21st Century Cures Act, recently went into effect, paving the way for patients to view additional information in their medical record.

Patients can sign up for MyChart quickly and easily at genesishcs.org, select the MyChart button. Patients can also download the MyChart app on their mobile device to enroll. MyChart users can also manage their family’s MyChart records by proxy. Any person who has had care at a Genesis HealthCare System facility or from a Genesis provider has an electronic medical record they can access.
