Kathie Irene Knicely, 78, of Adamsville, formerly of Rossville, Illinois, died Monday afternoon, April 19, 2021 at Adams Lane Care Center, Zanesville.
Born September 14, 1942 in Flint, Michigan, she was a daughter of the late Marshall and Margaret (Rowe) Ketchum and a 1960 graduate of Flint Northern High School. She later earned her bachelor’s degree at Michigan State University and was a retired elementary school teacher. Kathie loved music. She played the flute and taught band for twelve years in Danville, Illinois. She also gave piano lessons to students from her home in Rossville, Illinois. Kathie was a faithful member of New Hope Lutheran Church in Adamsville.
Surviving is her loving husband of 57 years, David R. Knicely, whom she married June 27, 1964; two sons, Michael (Beth) Knicely of Ft. Payne, Alabama and Monte (Barb) Knicely of Adamsville; five grandchildren, Anna Knicely, John Michael Knicely, Ashley Knicely, Megan Knicely and Marshall Knicely; a twin sister, Karen (Tom) Smith of Windsor, Colorado and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Paul Knicely and Loren Knicely.
Friends and family may call from 6pm to 8pm on Friday, April 23, 2021 and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at New Hope Lutheran Church, 7025 Adamsville-Otsego Road, Adamsville, Ohio 43802.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Saturday, April 24, 2021 at the church with Pastor Mary Molnar officiating. Kathie will be laid to rest at New Hope Cemetery, Adamsville.
