First Annual Dresden Elementary Bike-a-thon A Huge Hit

Money Raised Through Bike-a-thon Set to Help PTO Fund Construction of Walking Trail

55 Dresden Elementary Students along with their families participated in the school’s first-ever Bike-a-thon.

The event, hosted by the Dresden Elementary PTO, took place the morning of Saturday, April 24. The cyclists met at the Dresden boat dock and quickly got started on their journey along the 10 mile Muskingum Recreational Trail. Several students even completed the entire trail!

Students were asked to collect pledges to be able to ride the trail. The money that the students raised will be used by the PTO to help in building a walking trail behind the school to be used by students. Donations are still being accepted to finalize the project. Anyone who wishes to donate can contact the PTO.

The community was invited to the boat ramp for music, a cash raffle, and to enjoy BBQ pulled pork from The Real McCoy BBQ food truck. Baskets worth hundreds of dollars were up for grabs during a silent auction. Each basket had a different theme such as gardening, movie night, BBQ, and cook with me.

Next year the PTO plans to hold the Bike-a-thon again, making it part of the Spring Festival.

The Dresden PTO thanked all who were involved in making the event a success!
