The Scottie girls softball team had two big wins on the road last week and tried to take the third win at home but fell just shy of getting their before facing a wet week with many games postponed.
On Monday, April 26th, the Lady opened the gates at Kenny Wolford Park to face the Philo Lady Electrics. Tri-Valley took the lead in the first inning with a double from #24 Raegan Smith that brought #3 Brynn Miller, and #2 Falon Wolford across home plate to set the score at 2 – 1 against Philo. The Lady Electrics came back to retake the lead in the second inning landing two more runs of their own and setting the score at Philo 3 – TV 2.
The Lady Electrics continued to bolster their lead as they worked through the top of the 4th inning getting the lead up to 5 – 2 against Tri-Valley. The Scottie girls were not going to sit this one out, they came back in the bottom of the 4th inning to grab two runs on a fly ball from Raegan Smith and an error, followed by a 3-run homer by #6 Kierra Joseph to take the lead at 7 – 5 against Philo.
The Lady Dawgs continued to light up the bats as they moved into the bottom of the 5th inning with a 2-run homer from #3 Brynn Miller followed by a 3-run homer by #1 Belle Baughman plus a run on an error pushing their lead to a whopping 13 – 5.
Philo tried hard to pull it back with a 2-run homer and an additional run in the top of the 7th but couldn’t squeeze any more runs out of the Lady Dawgs who took the win with a score of 13 – 8.
As the Lady Dawgs moved on to Maysville to face the Lady Panthers, they didn’t let their bats cool down as Kierra Joseph nailed a 3-run homer to take the early lead in the first inning which Maysville wasn’t able to match up until the bottom of the 3rd to set the score at 3 – 3.
The top of the 5th inning the Scottie girls were back at it with a 5-run inning brought about by triple by #13 Keyona Murphy, a wild pitch, and a double by #2 Falon Wolford locking Tri-Valley into the lead at 8 – 3.
The 6th inning was when the real magic happened as the Lady Dawgs lit up the scoreboard for an amazing 10-run inning including a 3-run homer by Keyona Murphy to end the scoring for the game, but not before the damage was done and the Scotties walked away with an 18 – 4 win over Maysville.
Continuing on the road the Lady Dawgs made way to New Concord to battle rival John Glenn on Wednesday, April 28th. It was a battle of the pitchers as Tri-Valley held the Lil’ Muskies to just 3 runs, but the John Glenn team was able to force a shutout against the Scotties and they took a loss at 3 – 0.
The following week saw many games postponed and the Lady Dawgs were set to face West Muskingum at the time of this article.
